I doubt that matters really. You only need to have finished EotN and have sardelac sanitarium on your map so you can go talk to Munne. I think that's all...

I'm excited to see what's next... Gwen isn't very mild on him. Beginning to doubt if Logan Thackeray is a descendant of Gwen and Thackeray... Gwen will stay single permanently with that attitude :P

My unloved 'sin who never gets to do anything these days was able to get the picnic / gift conversation in the Hom / in Ice Cliff Chasms. So it doesn't look like that's a requirement. (She has finished prophs + eotn FWIW)

Edit: To clarify, she didn't do the wintersday eotn quests in 2008 or 2009.

I have a survivor character who only did the first part of the wintersday quests (didnt want to risk it)...and no thacky showing up...so I know you need to do more than just the first one......also tried it with a character who did all of the quests but has finished NO campaigns (mule) and she got thacky to show up---so I believe that you did need to do the quests from wintersday. (will do more research on another mule tomorrow).

Warrior I have only did the first part of wintersday cheer if I remember . Maybe you just needed to have accepted the quest.

That's not exactly true - My Warrior hasn't done any EotN story-line quests, but got the entire Thackary thing. I did do the Wintersday quests with her, so I wonder if it's an either/or thing. (i.e. To activate the dialogues between Gwen and Thackary, you either have to have done the Wintersday quests or completed the Eye of the North campaign.) Dunno!

I think you might be on to something Kook.

You have to have done 1 of 2 things:
- complete wintersday quests; or
- complete eotn

I was able to piggyback a character (rit) created after Wintersday who has not yet finished EotN or Prophecies. Thackeray was not spawning in the HoM for him, so he went into HoM in the party of a character on another account who had finished the Wintersday quests but had not yet listened to any of the dialogs. After the dialog chain was finished, both went outside the Eye and were able to speak with Thackeray and start the hunt. (In fact, the rit went alone to get the candles, since the other character is Canthan and has not been to Ascalon yet.)

Yeah could be I didn't finish eotn with my derv and not with my para and both are unable to get the conversation between gwen and the poor lt.

Your character needs to have EoTN completed before you can see Thackeray in HoM. It's incorrect that you need to have wintersday quests completed to make him appear in HoM.

True, yet ~ my Sin (completed EoTN) gets Thackeray to show in the HoM; however, having not completed the Wintersday quests, Thackeray only repeats the dialogue at a certain point and will not finish the chain to spawn outside.

Going in the HoM with another char that has completed the Winterday quests/EoTN allowed Thackeray to finish the dialogue chain and spawn outside in the Ice Cliffs.

Theory....

Something Gwen mentions during her chat (""*snort* Please. I've faced charr hordes, stood firm against a great fire wurm, and have literally seen the sky falling"*) makes me wonder if the trigger is in EOtN at the point after you complete "heart of the shiverpeaks" (And kill Cyndr, which im guessing is the great fire wurm?). All the people who claim they havent finished EOtN (yet can get to thack), have you possibly done this quest? (Either as part of quest string or maybe tagging along with a friend).

(*PS : Im guessing gwens reference to the other events are fixed points her life, not influenced by players, unless Gwen has slain some great fire wurm im not aware of!)

My theory is that you need one of these two things, not both (which is obviously incorrect).

i got a ton of crap and i got like 10-15 chalices 3-12 rins, 3 deldrimor armors,1 clothes of brotherhood, 10 cons, several summons stones and some other okay stuff. One girl cant do it since she is in pre, but all others but one have done the hunt.

but one didnt do the wintersday quests since she was rerolled afterwords. but only one finished proph rest started in proph. and some only finished one or two campains. havent tested with my ele yet she is in post and only done enough to get a few towns.

Another note is their a time limit? i mean does anyone know when this will end? cause i dont wanna have to grind my ele out in eotn to do it when i could be farming.

I've completed the scavenger hunt on three characters and I had only completed some of the Wintersday Quests on one of characters.

9 out of 10 of my characters have never completed a single wintersday quest, nor have they even accepted them. They have all finished eotn though, so that must be the pre req as all had thackaray spawn in the hom.

I agree. None of my 10 chars had done the Wintersday quest, yet all were able to interact with Thackeray. They all had completed EotN though.
